DIY DIVA

As a DIY Diva who has balanced precariously on ladders, moved all shapes and sizes of furniture I have suffered back pain and general aches and pains for many years. My philosophy being of course, the pain will go with a couple of pain killers, a trip to the osteopath, rest and a new bed. However no matter what, that niggling pain, some days worse than others, persisted.
The crux came after an intense weekend of sanding floors. My back problems became intense and mobility very difficult and very painful.
I had been attending Paul's yoga classes for nearly a year. Initially started as a means of relaxation from a very busy and stressful job. It worked!!! And I began to look forward to my classes.
Then recently, because the back problems becaome so intense, I found great difficulty in attempting the poses and even began to think of giving up yoga.
However, Paul's calm manner, continual encouragement and his philosophy of only doing what I felt comfortable with, encouraged me to continue. I also decided to attempt two classes per week. Within three weeks the change was dramatic. Within time my mobility increased and there was a dramatic reduction in the pain (without pain killers).
Paul also spoke tothe class about the benefit of yoga exercises and stretches in the morning. Yeah, thought I, when will I have time to do that and what benefit will a couple of stetches do to my back problems.
Now I eat my words. I decided to start with 5 - 10 minutes a day, nothing too stressful or intense. What a difference. I now start the day feeling more invigorated and can move more easliy. During the classes I also know how much I can do and feel comfortable with.
Paul has told me that if I continue in this way I will have the spine of 15 year old. I don't know about that, a 35 year old will do for me!
Thanks to Paul, his encouragement and the general benefits of yoga I'm beginning to move without pain. I've also decided to give the DIY a rest for a while.

After having a rather large baby three years ago I had significant pelvis problems and began seeing a physiotherapist. Having several sssion without much success the therapist advised a yoga class to see if that could ease the stiffness and pain I felt, especially in the morning.
Putting aside my misgivings (I really didn't think it could do much good) I decided to give it a go. That was nearly two and a half years ago and now I'm a complete convert, with hips and a pelvis that no longer seize up and give me trouble.
On top of that, the overall effect of Paul's session's have made me feel much more healthier, relaxed, supple - and even a bit taller!
